I have long struggled with the issue of why I am so invested in this silly blog! I guess most of all for my family and friends who live near and far. Being a stay at home mom of 3 very busy boys and having a husband who travels it gives me a why to "reach out" to them and others and keep in touch. When a stranger from far away can reach you in your home and change your day, that can be a true and beautiful connection but the experience I had today was not. I was alerted today by Site Meter that 78 different ISP's hit my blog by 12 noon EST so I began to research where the hits were coming from. *At last check it was 256* To my horror my family blog became the topic of a message board and there my family was put on display for a public humiliation so to speak, I was left in tears. These people making fun of us do not know us at all but found it ok to make fun of me and my children and that IS NOT OK. I am left pondering where do I go from here...do I go private or ignore it, but honestly how can I when there have been hundreds of comments made from people all over the world??? The internet could be a medium for such good, allowing us to reach out and connect with each other no matter where we live, what we believe, whether we are American or not. This kind of experience is a reminder to me that human beings the world over share so much and are always quick to criticize another without thinking of the hurt we will cause. So I am asking why do I blog? Not for this......

Renee,
Although I can see why you would be uspset, you have to remember that those people don't know who or what they are talking about! They don't know you or your family and they don't know that you are an incredibly loving, smart and creative mother who wants nothing but the best for your children. I can understand being creeped out by ill-willing strangers looking at your family business (who wouldn't be??!!), but unfortunately that is part of the unknown-blogosphere. We need to be careful about the information we share, and then realize that we are choosing to take a bit of a risk. Far more people come to your blog because they love you and your family and either need a "Cundick fix" or are looking for inspiration from a mom who knows her stuff!
Public or private, is up to you, but I wanted you to know that I value your blog and find it to be a great example of a happy family living, sharing and inspiring for others.
Lisa~ Thanks for your kind words. I almost feel like someone broke into my home and invaded my personal space, it's such a yucky feeling. I have always enjoyed blogging and never agreed with those going private but I will have to sleep on it. Again, thanks for the kind words and perspective.
This is insane and makes me feel uncomfortable. Although I share only a very small percentage of my life on my blog, I do share personal stuff and to be criticized for those things is sad. I guess we do have to be careful.
Renee, sorry for your bad experience. That's why I went private, I love having an Online journal but it's not worth putting my family and children at risk...it's just too scary. Especially when you have pics of your precious ones out there. I'm so, so , so sorry this happened to you. I think you would sleep better at night if you went private, I do. Just a thought. Are you so excited for Breaking Dawn? I am! Can't wait. Glad you had a fun vacay in Denver.
I am feeling a little better, I got this e-mail this moring in responce to and e-mail I sent to the sites webmaster yesterday. I am still struggling with going private....
Ms. Cundick,
At your request your link and all proceeding messages have been removed from our site and message board.

Oh, no! I can't even imagine what they could have been making fun of. I can see why you'd be upset and feel violated.
I'm sorry you're dealing with this... If you do go private, please, please invite me? :)
